Please feel free to contact us if you don’t get your question’s answered below.
Hand Therapists have completed their undergraduate training in either Physiotherapy or Occupational therapy. They have then had additional specialist training in the assessment and treatment of the upper limb. All Hand Therapy staff are members of the Hand Therapy New Zealand. We are governed by our professional bodies – Physiotherapy NZ or Occupational Therapy NZ.
No, hand therapy focusses on injuries and conditions from the elbow to fingertips. A general Physiotherapy practice would be better equipped to assess and manage conditions of the shoulder and neck.
Our appointments are 30min long unless otherwise advised. Post op appointment may be up to hour. We aim to keep on time for all appointments, however we do manage acute referral and may occasionally run overtime. We apologize if this is the case and any inconvenience it may cause.
It is best to start hand therapy as early as possible to ensure you get the right diagnosis and advice. This can lead to a faster recovery time. If you would like to discuss when to start hand therapy, please send us an email or call us. We would be happy to talk this through with you.
Bookings can be made via the bookings page on our website, or please phone and book in. If there is no answer, please leave a voice message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please bring the following documents to your appointment:
You are most welcome to bring a support person with you to your appointment
We accept Eftpos and credit card payment. Unfortunately, we do not hold cash onsite. Internet banking details can be provided if required. We kindly request that all payments be made at the time of the treatment or purchase. If you are unable to access the treatment you require due to financial barriers, please discuss this with your hand therapist.
No, you are most welcome to self-refer.
We ask that you please make adjustments to your appointment time at least 24hours before the time. Late cancellations (less than 5hours notice) may incur a fee for non-attendance. If you are to arrive late you may have a shorter consultation to ensure the next patient is not disadvantaged. Repeat non-attendance may result in the referrer being notified, and further appointments being cancelled.
At Restore Hand Therapy we take all concerns/complaints seriously and welcome your feedback. We will always deal with matters in strict confidence. Please email [email protected] with any feedback and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
